Finally, I find time to post something about the most amazing trip I’ve ever had in my entire life. I always wanted to visit Thailand because I heard so many amazing things so you can imagine how excited I was when we decided to actually go there. My suggestion was Koh Phi Phi and after a bit of research we booked a very nice hotel on this island. Koh Phi Phi is separated in two “main” islands, Koh Phi Phi Don (the larger, where all the resorts and the village are) and Koh Phi Phi Le (the smaller, where the movie The Beach was filmed). Although I state Don as the larger island, it is not really large lol. There are no real streets, no cars, no hospital, no street lightning (thank god for our smartphones), no shops or anything. Of course there are some restaurants and stuff, but in my opinion it’s not that much touristy. There is a place called Tonsai pier, which is according to my boyfriend more disgusting than pretty. However, there is a really nice small village, where we went almost every evening with very good restaurants and massage studios. So let’s bring some facts…
Where to live.
We lived at a hotel called Holiday Inn Resort Phi Phi Island. It was not the best hotel I’ve ever visited, but the beach was amazing, the bungalow was clean, the food was okay and all in all we made a very good decision. As far as I know it is the second best hotel on the island, after Phi Phi Island Village Beach Resort.
Where to eat.
We had three favourite restaurants which are all in the village. Oasis (BEST PHAD THAI ever!!), Aroy Kaffeine & Bar (BEST PANCAKES ever!!) and the Knockout bar. You can find all of them on Tripadvisor. They all offer vegetarian and vegan options if you ask them.
What to do.
I can tell you one thing… Jenny is scared of deep black water. Actually I’m also scared of going into a lake haha. But I wanted to overcome my fears as it was the last day of the 2015 – what a great opportunity to experience something new :-). Maybe you can already guess what we did…. Yes we went snorkeling. I had just one tiny panic attack when I looked down with my mask and all I saw was dark blue water, but after this little shock I LOVED IT!!!! We saw so many colourful fishes and even sea turtles! I never felt so free in my life! It was amazing! After a 6-hour snorkeling trip with Mr.Chet (owner of the Knockout bar and he also offers snorkeling tours), I was literally blown away. I insisted of going snorkeling a second time, so we hired a private boat and drove to Mosquito island. It was even better. I felt like I was swimming in an aquarium. This was one of the best experiences in my life!!!!
If you have any questions about this place or something else, comment down below 🙂
I also made a video of my trip with some short impressions of the beach, the village and so on. Check it out!
