Go cruelty-free: My makeup routine

Finally I have time to share with you my favorite cruelty-free make-up products. Actually I was having a tough time to find good make-up products, which are doing their job and weren’t tested on animals. There are of course some companies mainly in the organic make-up sector, but most of them do not meet my expectations. Apart from that, they are often extremely expensive, which I think is also acceptable, but only if the products are “knocking me off my socks” :-).  However, after testing many cruelty-free products I can say that these ones are doing their job perfectly and are as good (if not better) than normal non cruelty-free products. I also want to clarify that I still use products, which are not cruelty-free as I don’t think it’s very reasonable to throw away products you already bought only because they aren’t cruelty-free. I think it’s more important to make sure you now focus on buying only cruelty-free products and not to trash good products.

Step 1: Moisturizer

Before I start putting on my make-up, I put moisturizer on my cleaned face. I always use Dr. Hauschka Day Cream in Rose. You could also use a primer if you want to minimize your pores.

Step 2: Foundation

For me it is important to use a foundation which is not covering too much as I don’t want to look unnatural. The NYX liquid foundation is very similar to MACs Mineral Moisture foundation and gives you a matte and flawless finish. I use it in the color “creamy natural”.

Step 3: Concealer & Contour

Always in my bag: The wonderstick by NYX. The clue is in the name. On the one end is a creamy concealer and on the other end a contouring stick. Sometimes I use both of them, sometimes only the concealer. I blend it with a damp Beauty Blender. If you want to get one product, then it should be this one! For additional contour I use the bronzer of my Naked Flushed palette. It also contains a highlighter and a rouge.

Step 4: Setting your make-up

For this I use a fixing powder by NYX. To this product I have to add that it is satisfying, but that is also the end of the story. It is definitely doing its job, but in comparison not as amazing as the wonderstick.

Step 4: Eyebrows

Another wonderful product by NYX is the tinted brow mascara. The color Blonde is perfect for my brows and holds them in place for the whole day. Must-have!

Step 5: Eyes

The eye shadow palette from Urban Decay is my daily companion since I bought it approximately two years ago. The colors and the texture are amazing. Regarding Mascara I have a bit mixed feelings. I still haven’t found the perfect cruelty-free mascara yet. The one from Ilia is fine, but for my taste not perfect enough. It also depends on what you are looking for in a mascara. If you have any recommendations for me, please let me know in the comments.

Step 6: Lips

What shall I say, the soft matte lip creams by NYX are the best and I already have a bunch of them! I use the color Zurich for my everyday-look, but I can highly recommend everyone of them. I also have Antwerp and Amsterdam, which are more for special occasions. My next one will probably be Stockholm or London.

Step 7: Finish

My last step is fixing and once again moisturizing my face. Therefore I use a 100% organic toning moisturizer by Pure Skin Food.
